Kia ora, my name is Maihi Bennett. I am 18 years old and of Maori descent, my Iwi include Ngati Koroki Kahukura and Ngatiwai. For secondary school, I attended Hato Petera College in Auckland for four years and finished my final year at Tikipunga High school in Whangarei.
I am a first year university student, currently doing Foundation Studies (TFC) at The University of Auckland. I am studying at University in order to pathway myself into a career in the health sector and I am the first person in my family to attend university, so firstly I want to make them proud and achieve well at what I am doing. My interest include sports, technology and being involved with positive kaupapa. But really I am just a regular guy that enjoys being in a team environment working towards a goal and getting the job done.
The thing I enjoy most about technology is being able to apply it and make it relevant in our everyday life, enjoying the conveniences that it allows and the ability to be connected to people. What I'm looking forward to most is seeing Google because of its well known creativity and unique workplace, and Kiwi Landing Pad, because I want to see what kind of things kiwis are creating and doing in Silicon Valley. Most of all I look forward to being inspired during this trip.
